The battle was fought on February 27, near Wilmington North Carolina. The fight consisted of North Carolina patriots and Scottish Loyalists . At one am a group of Scottish loyalists headed toward the bridge to block off the American soldiers. Just before dawn the loyalists came across the American's camp with fires still burning. Just before daylight the loyalists could hear gunfire breaking out near the bridge. The loyalist leader Donald McLeod couldn't wait any longer he had to go to the bridge. Within weeks of this battle,"all suspected men" had been captured and were disarmed as quickly as possible. And as suspected, after this scirmage, the loyalist army went on and joined Cornwaillis and moved further south. And as i'm sure you all know the loyalists moving on southward just led to more and more dissapointment.
